Successful Neck Pain Treatment
A 61 year old woman came in for treatment in March 2011. She had chronic constant neck pain for the last 16 to 17 years due to herniated cervical discs (C4 & C5) from an auto injury. Her previous treatment regimen included massage and stretching which would provide temporary relief. The patient also had impaired neck mobility to the point that she was only able to rotate her neck less than halfway to her shoulder, at least 70% restriction.

Since the patients disc injury was so old, I recommended twice a week acupuncture sessions for at least 4 weeks and gave the patient supplements and topical suggestions to complement her acupuncture therapy. By the 4th acupuncture session, the patient reported 50% improvement and showed 40% increase in neck mobility. By the patients 8th session, she had a 90% improvement in her neck rotation from left to right. She had almost no pain with periods of no pain at all and stated she had not felt that good since before injuring her neck.

The results have been sustained ever since.
