Successful Elimination of Hip Pain
An 85-year-old female patient presented with hip pain and a history of a laminectomy 5 years prior. Her hips had been evaluated by an MRI 2 years ago and she had been followed by a neurosurgeon. She is also receiving chiropractic interventions but had not seen significant relief. She continued to have limited mobility requiring a cane at the time of evaluation in July 2020. She had difficulty standing to cook in the kitchen and experienced poor balance walking in stores using a cart for support. She was unable to do the things she enjoyed because of the pain in her hips. She had been using a home TENS unit, as well as heat and rest with biweekly visits to the chiropractor for infrared and IF therapy and adjustments. Her initial pain level was a 10 and she was discouraged with her lack of improvement despite her efforts.
The first intervention was massage therapy to evaluate the soft tissues. Stretching and hip exercises were instructed and performed with a pain reduction noted at a 6-post treatment. A follow-up 2 weeks later she noted the pain was better for a time but she felt that more frequent visits would help her progress and additional exercises were added to mobilize the hip joints internal and external rotation.
The Wei Labs Patches were added to help heal the area. The patient was alternating between the FASTT and WHITEE Patches due to the long-term condition as well as the soft tissue issues. Infrared sauna and massage were used to improve circulation also. She started using the FASTT Patch first on her left hip on July 28th, 2020.
She returned on August 4th reporting less pain (6 pre-treatment and a 3 post-treatment), improved mobility, and requested to increase her visits to twice a week receiving acupuncture and massage. August 10th, she stated that her left hip was much better and she was surprised that she felt so much better so quickly. The WHITEE Patch was placed on her right hip at that appt.
On August 14th she alternated using the FASTT Patch, acupuncture, and massage to mobilize the hips. Four days later, her right hip pain felt greater than her left hip pain and a WHITEE Patch was placed on it the evening before. On August 20th, she continued to alternate patches placing the new one on the area that hurt the worst.
By August 27th, she decreased her visits to once a week and was continuing alternating patches, and had decreased chiropractic visits as well. She no longer uses a cane, has had no reported falls, and is continuing to improve her standing time in the kitchen. Standing no longer causes her severe pain and she can walk with her husband comfortably. She states that sometimes there is no pain.
She keeps the patches on hand to use as needed now and is very pleased with her results. She even reports her neuropathy has been significantly relieved over her course of treatment. She looks forward to enjoying her life and continues to do her daily exercises and follow-up visits as needed.
