Improvement in GFR, Creatinine, and Proteinuria in Stage 5 Kidney Patient
A male patient, age 70, reached out to Dr. Fernandez seeking help with stage 5 CKD. The patient was experiencing symptoms of edema, anemia, kidney stones, arthritis, digestive problems (diarrhea), cold hands and feet, little to no urination, prostate enlargement, reoccurring bladder infections, trouble falling and staying asleep. However, their biggest complaint was the fatigue preventing them from doing the things they enjoyed most in life.
When the patient had started working with Dr. Fernandez their most recent lab work had showed a GFR of 4, Creatinine at 10.6, and their Proteinuria was 172mg/mmol. The only form of treatment the patient was doing was dialysis.
Dr. Fernandez started the patient with a diet removing all animal-based protein and switching to plant-based protein. Vitamin B-12 was also added to the patient’s regimen. The recommended Wei Laboratories Formulas were LC Balancer, Xcel, KS, Formula C, & Anemic.
The patient started to see improvement in the 2nd month of the protocol. The first improvements were in energy levels and being able to sustain having energy throughout the day. The patient’s skin also has turned from gray to a healthy pink tone.
The patient has now completed 12 months of the protocol suggested by Dr. Fernandez. Their GFR is now at 15, their Creatinine has improved to 4.3 and Proteinuria levels are now at 80mg/mmol. The patient plans to continue working with Dr. Fernandez and will continue with the herbal formulas. They are thrilled with the improvements and know that they can make even more progress.
