Successful Resolution of PCOS and Weight Gain
52 year old female presented to my office in October 2010 with a diagnosis from her endocrinologist of PCOS and related diabetes and hypertension. At 5 ft. 4in., she weighed 170 lbs. In addition, she suffered from habitual constipation, cystic acne, high stress, and demonstrated signs and symptoms of depression. I saw her 14 times on a weekly basis. Her treatment plan included 10 acupuncture sessions, 2 nutritional sessions, and 2 meetings to address her emotional state. She did not warrant a diagnosis of a major depression at this time. In addition, comprehensive blood work, including thyroid antibodies, saliva hormone testing, anti-oxidant testing, and DNA GI stool analysis were performed. Her blood test results came back positive for Hashimotos Disease. She was prescribed a gluten-free diet; she went through a cR500 weight loss program (based on HCG and a low calorie intake diet) resulting in a weight loss of 32 lbs in 40 days. The results were fantastic and consisted of the following:

Patient has lost a total of 40 lbs (8 additional lbs after the weight loss program due to a gluten-free diet); she is off the oral diabetic medication and her blood pressure is healthy. Her testosterone levels are WNL and she has regular bowel movements.

The patient is on a supplement regimen consisting of a Probiotic and Oxycleanse for regular bowel movements and general GI health, a comprehensive Multivitamin and Mineral formula called Life Pak Nano, Vitamin D3 500 IU daily; Glycen, to control her glucose. She eats a gluten and dairy free diet, drinks alkaline water and practices Emotional Freedom technique as a stress reduction in addition to her daily walks and twice-a-week yoga.

It has been almost a year since her intense treatments and the patient is doing well. She comes once a quarter for maintenance.
