Successful Treatment of COPD and Smoking Cessation
A female patient, 61 years old, came for treatment in 2002. She had been diagnosed with throat cancer (smoker). Surgery removed it but the patient continued smoking. It created severe breathing problems which forced her to use an oxygen tank.
Dr. Lerner applied 10 sessions of acupuncture. It made the patient quit smoking. However, the MD diagnosed COPD. Dr. Lerner continued the acupuncture treatment which was combined with herbal remedies. Herbal treatment was applied for one month in 2003, 2004 and twice in 2005. Herbal refreshment was applied in 2009 (one month).
The results have been significant. The patient could stop using the oxygen tank in 2003 (after the first round of treatment). She stopped smoking for good. After every treatment cycle she needed less volume of herbs to achieve extended relief of symptoms. Besides, the treatment cycle was shortened. The results have been sustained ever since. The patient enjoys walking around in New York City without any breathing problems.
